HAVE YOU EVER HEARED ABOUT "WINSIGA NDUMVA PROGRAMME"?

Today, 21st May, 2026, the Director General of Ruhengeri Hospital, Dr MUHIRE Philbert, has received a Delegation from ATscale led by Henri BONNIN (Senior Programme Manager/ Geneva).

The main purpose of the visit was to observe "Winsiga Ndumva Programme", aiming at strengthening Ear and Hearing Care Services and related assistive technologies.

RBC was represented by BAGAHIRWA Irène (NCDs), UNICEF Rwanda by Victoria CHUWA; UPHLS also was attended.

This programme is implemented in Rwanda (in 9 Districts, including Musanze) by the Ministry of Health, through the Rwanda Biomedical Center, in partnership with the above- mentioned ATscale and the UNICEF Country Office.

Note that, through this partnership, our Hospital and its catchment Health Centers have been strengthened through the provision of high-tech auditological equipments.

After a meeting held at the hospital highlighting these achievements and visiting the ENT Department, they visited NYAKINAMA Health Center, together with the DG and the Health Promotion Officer representing Musanze District, where they have had very constructive discussions with trained Staff, Community Health Workers and some of the beneficiaries of this programme (a couple).

 

At the Hospital: Holding a dialogue with some of beneficiaries of the Programme (children with their parents: the woman above, with a telephone in hands, is the mother of the above 2 children in uniform and she has two more children with the same disability/ deaf and dumb but now overcoming it, among them, the first born is now at University)

At NYAKINAMA Hospital in  very constructive discussions, highlighting the achievements of the Project,  with trained Staff, Community Health Workers and some of the beneficiaries of this programme (a couple and its child), facilitated by a girl trained in sign language
